Shannagh-More! A Residential to Remember!
Last Week we went on a Trip of a Life Time. To Shannagh More!
It was the best experience I ever had. That morning I was nervous, excited and jittery about going but I knew it was going to be a new adventure! At school everyone was excited. We got a photo before we left and packed the bus. I sat beside Megan and we nearly started to cry, with our Mum’s and Dad’s waving out the window.
When we got there everyone started cheering with excitement because we had finally arrived. The first thing we explored was our bed rooms. I was in a room of six with Emma, Shauna, Caitlin, Hannah and Megan. We then explored the Common room where we met Eunan, our instructor. After that we explored Shannagh More itself and went into the forest and the game room.
The game room had 2 tables of air hockey and 2 tables of table football. The forest was quite an adventure but you had to stay in the grounds or else you could get lost.
Our first activity that day was rock climbing Stephen (our new instructor) took us to a huge shed, where we walked sideways across the wall to start of with.We then got hooked on to a harness, one person on the wall and the other four pulling and lowering them down. We all took it in turns. After 2 goes each we went on to the other wall. After we completed the rock climbing we moved on to the ropes course where it was full of new obstacles. There were logs to walk across, ropes to wobble on and tyres to swing on! Also there was the ‘PLANK OF DOOM ‘and the ‘NET OF DISASTER!’
Before we went to bed we experienced the most amazing thing ever.... ‘THE NIGHT LINE’. It was a rope that you had to hold on to in the pitch black. But to make thing freakier, we were BLIND FOLDED! The next day we were kayaking! We had to wear; wellies, wetsuits, waterproof trousers and a jacket. It was quite tricky but it was really fun! After we finished the kayaking we moved on to the orienteering around the Castlewellen Lake. We were looking for clues, answers and getting a fast time to be the winner! My group was called Alalaboobalala and we won! For being the winners we got a fredo bar and a long rest. After all that, everything went so quickly! So we packed our bags and left them at the door and headed out for one last activity.... ‘THE AVENTURE WALK’. IT WAS THE BEST because you crawled through pipes, walking behind waterfalls and crawling through a bridge full of water!
It was an experience, I will never forget!
