School Update: Covid-19
Dear Parents. The Minister for Education Peter Weir, has advised that schools will remain open for now and that schools should prepare for closure in the forthcoming days or weeks, ensuring that pupils have access to learning material at home. Our staff are currently working on this and aim to make learning material available through online forums such as Accelerated Reading and Mathletics. We will also be providing learning packs for all our pupils and we are also adding a Remote Home Learning link to our website page so that pupils can access their classwork.
School will be open on Thursday 19th March. We have taken the decision to restrict visitors to our school and cancel any outings or trips for the next few weeks.
In school we have to take some precautionary steps and children are encouraged to wash their hands frequently, use tissues and hand sanitisers. Every effort is being made to keep the school as clean as possible. There will be no after school activities for the next few weeks.
If pupils are unwell, particularly if they have symptoms such as a temperature and persistent cough, please refrain from sending your child to school and keep them at home, where advice can be sought from the Public Health Agency.
These are unprecedented times and it is difficult for schools and indeed families to plan for the forthcoming days and weeks especially with mixed messages from our politicians. I would encourage our families to take whatever precautions they feel necessary for the safety and wellbeing of those around them. We will certainly continue to do our very best and we will keep parents up-to-date via texts and our school website.
Best wishes,
Ciaran Monaghan
