P7 At The Palace Stables For The World Cup Fun Day
An amazing day was had by all our P7 pupils as they attended the World Cup Fun Day at the Palace Stables. The children came to school on Friday morning in their designed t-shirts and picked up their pom poms and banners ready to head into Sherry's Field in Armagh where the cultural parade through the city by all the participating schools was taking place. Thankfully the weather held for the most part of the day and luckily the pupils had better weather than what was predicted. Armagh City was hit by an eruption of pupils singing and dancing through the centre of Market Street and on up to the Palace Stables. It was an amazing spectacle, full of noise, colour and energy. Many people stopped to watch the amazing parade. Once the pupils made it to the Palace, they opened the ceremony by releasing lots of balloons into the sky. The soccer games then came thick and fast and the boys and girls from Darkley played brilliantly and had a great time, winning their final in their section. Boys and girls got medals, trophies and spent the day playing or participating in the many activities set up on the day like rodeo bull, inflatable assault courses, climbing walls and stall games. After the awards ceremony, it was time to go home but the experience will stay with the pupils for a long time. It was also great to see so many Darkley parents of the P7 pupils turn up to see our boys and girls do so well. Their presence definitely added to the occasion. Well done to one and all. Pictures of the World Cup Fun Day can be viewed in our gallery section as well as video footage of the parade which is found in our school clips section..
