P5 continued with their Wind topic this week and discovered how a wind turbine creates electricity by rotating their large blades that moves magnets quickly around copper wires which generates electricity that we can use after it is sent to a substation and has travelled along miles of power lines to our homes.
Did you know that wind is created by the sun by creating different air pressures that results in the movement of air? That’s makes wind a solar, renewable energy!
Pupil also discovered how a kite flies using lift, drag and thrust. In the coming days pupils will create their own kites and put this knowledge to the test. Below is a video of pupils creating their own miniature windmills to represent wind turbines that they have researched today. They had great fun experimenting with them today. As you can see all the pupils successfully designed and created brilliant windmills. Well done everyone!
